Have you ever heard of Quantum Computers? Maybe you have, maybe you haven’t, but the important thing is that technologists have started exploring its power, and we believe that it is going to be impressive!
Before we get started into Quantum Computers, we wanted to share the following headline we came across recently: “Your smartphone is millions of times more powerful than the Apollo 11 guidance computers” – [Puiu, 2020]
In other words, the smartphone you use on a daily basis, is A MILLION TIMES more powerful, than a computer that got Apollo 11 on the moon, do you see the idea? Technology has been evolving EXPONENTIALLY, and we believe that it is just the start! Technologists are exploring the power of quantum computers, and so far, believe that those are 100 MILLION TIMES FASTER than any classical computer. As of today, your computer is already “wow”; you’re able to do things so much faster and efficiently, but believe it or not, there are a number of computation problems that are still deemed impossible to solve today. Technologists believe that some of these problems, that would take our current computers decades to solve, would be solved by Quantum Computers in no time.
So, you might wonder, what actually is the difference between a Quantum Computer, and a classical computer? Is it just faster? The answer to this question is far more complex than you think, but we saw a very impressive comparison in response to this question which was as followed: “the differences between the two are even more vast than those between classical computers and pen and paper.” – [Robison, 2021]
If you think about this quote and put it into perspective:
Pen and Paper à Classical Computers à Quantum Computers
The transition from Pen & Paper reshaped the world, drastically, and when you consider the fact that Quantum Computers are going to be 100 Million times faster than classical computers, it may be time to get ready for another reshaping! The digital world will change, as people demand more and more powerful tools and machineries.
